Enda Bates writes, records and performs music under the alias Fairlights. His first release, the Deadweight E.P. was recorded in 2003, and the debut Fairlights album, Scraps, was released on the Alphabet Set label in 2005. (www.alphabetset.net). Fairlights have played numerous gigs around Dublin including the Ballroom of Romance, Lazybird, the DEAF festival (www.deafireland.com), Beaconsfield Galleries The Mother of All parties (www.beaconsfield.ltd.uk), and the Mantua Lives Festival (www.mantuaproject.com).

Enda currently works in the Music & Media Technology course in Trinity College where is pursuing a PhD in Computer Music with Donnacha Dennehy and Dr. Dermot Furlong. He is also a member of the Spatial Music Collective and the Young Composers Collective.

He also performs regularly with the Spook of the Thirteenth Lock, Miriam Ingram and Fairlights and has produced and recorded for the likes of the Spook of the Thirteenth Lock, Somadrone, Miriam Ingram and Daniel Figgis. He has engineered and recorded live performances of the Printing House Festival of New Music, Linda Buckley, the Spatial Music Collective and the Crash Ensemble.
